K100 'Reborn in Style' by Impuls
Handbuilt in Munich by Impulse in 2016, the k101 is a handcrafted motorcycle project from Philipp Wulk and Matthias Pittner aka Impuls in collaboration with the artist Fabian Gatermann.
It has been used a K1100 drivetrain on a modified K100 frame with custom exhaust, air intake, LiFePo4 Battery, custom forks, m-unit blue, buttons, instruments and m-blaze disc turn signals by motogadget. Levers and footpegs are from abm_motorrad, a longer shock by wilbers was also added. The two examples in this post are fully street legal ... except for the exhausts and the missing mirrors and license plate holders to be added to ride in the public streets.
The project was to make the motorbike itself an iconic and minimal artwork.
The artist Fabian Gatermann brought the whole motorcycle back into 3D and created a set of polygons through manual iteration and draw them back onto the motorcycle by hand. The process of building a bike from scratch with drawing, 3D modeling and manufacturing is expanded back to the computer and a manual redrawing onto the bike.
