Zaku

1995 Honda NX650 Dominator "Zaku" 

The bike has been named Naku because of its new color scheme, inspired by the Gundam saga. The Gundam saga is a science fiction created by Sunrise Co. that features giant anthropomorphic combat robots, also called Mobile Suit, of which Gundam itself is a particular model. Zaku is another model of mobile suit that in one of the many versions has got a "desert" color. The owner of this bike left Niko Sartori free to design the final build: he wanted something aggressive but elegant, head turner, and with a loud and personal voice. The bike was then completely stripped down. The electrical system was rebuilt and moved under the seat and the fuel tank, including the new compact lithium battery. The fuses have been housed under the lower front plate for quick control. The subframe has been rebuilt. The stock fuel tank was replaced with a Suzuki GN 125 replica one. The side panels and the mudguards were custom-made in fiberglass. The carburettor was overhauled and the airbox replaced by a K&N conical filter. The custom exhaust is stainless steel made, thermally insulated and completed by a Spark muffler with a baritonic voice.

Il nome Naku è stato scelto per via della scelta cromatica della moto, ispirata alla saga dei Gundam. Gundam è il comune denominatore di diversi anime realizzati dalla casa di produzione giapponese Sunrise caratterizzati dalla presenza nella trama di robot da combattimento antropomorfi giganti, altrimenti denominati Mobile Suit, dei quali lo stesso Gundam costituisce un particolare modello. Zaku è un modello di mobile suit che in una delle tante versioni è in colorazione "desertica". Il cliente di questa Special ha lasciato carta bianca a Niko Sartori: voleva qualcosa di aggressivo ma elegante, che non passasse inosservato, e con un sound da teppistello. La moto è stata allora completamente spogliata. L'impianto elettrico è stato ricostruito e spostato sotto sella e serbatoio, compresa la nuova compatta batteria al litio. I fusibili sono stati alloggiati sotto la piastra inferiore per un rapido controllo in caso di malfunzionamento. Il telaio sottocoda è stato ricostruito. Il serbatoio è stato sostituito con un Suzuki GN 125 replica. Le tabelle portanumero laterali e i parafanghi sono stati realizzati su misura in vetroresina. Il carburatore è stato revisionato e l’airbox sostituito da un filtro conico K&N. Lo scarico è artigianale in acciaio inox, isolato termicamente e completato da un terminale Spark dalla voce baritonale.
