"Locura" (Madness): the weird Yamaha XT500 by Roll Factory

According to Antonio, the builder, this crazy bike is "a mix of synchronous styles": a bit scrambler, a bit flat-track, a little rat, a bit bobber ... I just call it straaaaange! The entire rear subframe was removed and rebuilt by stretching the central beam on which a bicicle seat, cleverly stollen from the father-in-law's old bike, was installed. The fork has been shortened by almost 10 inches (disturbing!), compensating the compression with two dedicated external springs (true trust!), which also give a vintage touch. The fuel tank is made from the "chicks" of a Guzzi V35's reservoir, brass welded, resulting in an unfinished welding cord, with a deliberately neglected flavor. The fuel cap used to be of an iron canister, cut and re-welded. The right side of the tank hides the oil tank, which we find very far from where it was originally mounted. The front brake... is not there. He left the place to an old vinyl record on which Antonio engraved the motto: "Motorcycle noise, the sound of the freedom" completed of a turntable arm and cartridge...

Per il suo costruttore, questa moto folle è “un mix di stili sincroni”: un po’ scrambler, un po’ flat-track , un po’ rat, un po’ bobber... Io la definisco, semplicemente, stranaaaaaa! L’intero telaio sottosella è stato rimosso e ricostruito allungando la trave centrale su cui è stata installata una sella di biciletta, sottratta con destrezza dalla vecchia bici del suocero. La forcella è stata sfilata di ben 22 cm (preoccupante!), compensando la compressione con due molle esterne dedicate (bisogna vere fiducia!), che conferiscono anche un tocco vintage. Il serbatoio è ricavato dalle pance del tank di una Guzzi V35, saldobrasate ad ottone, ricavando un cordone di saldatura non rifinito, dal sapore volutamente trascurato . Il tappo è quello di una tanica di ferro, tagliato e risaldato. Il lato destro del serbatoio nasconde il serbatoio dell'olio, che ritroviamo ben distante da dove era originarimente montato. Il freno di davanti… non c’è. Ha lasciato il posto a un vecchio vinile su cui Antonio ha inciso: “Motorcycle noise, the sound of the freedom” e ha corredato di braccio e puntina di giradischi....
