1981 Honda CX500 by Piston Jockey

This bike came to Nick Heij in Antwerp as an already started project. The owner wanted to build it by himself, but he lacked the know how. So, after leaving the bike for a while collecting dust, he seeked the help of a professional. Luckily the customer had good taste and wanted to build a CX500 similar to the popular Wrenchmonkees' CX project. Nick took the challenge and today the bike is finished and runs great: rims were powder coated and fitted with a set of Firestone Deluxe. The seat section of the frame has been rebuilt and a black leather custom seat was added. New aluminum front and rear fender, sprayed matt black were mounted. All electric components were moved under the seat. Clip-ons handlebars were added. The small black LED tail light now gives a trendy look to the bike. The carburetor was re-jetted, rebuilt and provided with K&N air-filters. A custom battery box was mounted under the engine where you normally find the H-box of the old exhaust pipes. The black powder-coated Screaming Eagle mufflers seem to be well worth their name. They fit the adjusted and heat-wrapped pipes like a glove. The tank got painted in jet-fighter green. A sturdy bracket as holder of the gauge and a one off windshield were expressely built. The brass underneath the black painted radiator was revealed. New rear shocks. Small indicators were fitted in the mirror holes and in the back, on the new stainless license plate hold. NIce staff.

Questa moto è arrivata da Nick Heij ad Anversa come progetto già avviato. Il proprietario la voleva costruire da solo, ma gli mancava il know how. Così, dopo averla lasciata per un po' a prendere polvere, ha cercato l'aiuto di un professionista. Per fortuna il cliente aveva buon gusto e ha chiesto una CX500 simile alla popolare ealizzazione dei Wrenchmonkees di qualche anno fa. Nick ha accettato la sfida e oggi la moto è finita e va alla grande: i cerchi sono stati verniciati a polvere e calzano Firestone Deluxe. La sezione di coda del telaio è stata ricostruita e provvista di sella artiginale in pelle nera. Nuovi i parafanghi in alluminio, verniciati nero opaco. La componentistica elettrica è stata spostata sotto la sella. Sono stati aggiunti i semimanubri. Il piccolo fanale posteriore a LED nero dà ora un look di tendenza. Il carburatore è stato ricostruito, aggiornato con nuovi getti e dotato di filtri K&N. La scatola della batteria, auto costruita, è stata montata sotto il motore dove normalmente c'è il compensatore degli scarichi originali. Gli scarichi Screaming Eagle neri hanno un suono degno del loro nome. Si inseriscono nei tubi di scarico fasciati come un guanto. Il serbatoio è stato verniciato verde "jet da caccia". La robusta staffa per lo strumento e il cupolino sono stati realizzati appositamente. Bello l'ottone portato a vista sotto il radiatore verniciato nero. Nuovi gli ammortizzatori posteriori. I piccoli indicatori di direzione sono stati montati nei fori che erano per gli specchietti e, nella parte posteriore, sulla nuova piastra d'acciaio porta targa. Belle cose.
