Readers' rides: Gil's DR650

1993 Suzuki DR 650 by Mário Patricio of 85 Motorcycle Art 

According to Màrio, it all started with a friendly conversation between him and his friend Gil Francisco, about how build a fun bike to ride on the beach. Gil didn’t look for speed, but for a motorcycle able to give him the feeling of what he likes: waves, music, two wheels and surf. After considering several different solutions Mário Patrício and Gil agreed on the project on stage today. The subframe was rebuilt with a 25mm steel pipe to give the idea of a muscle motorcycle. The second hand fuel tank is coming from a Portuguese motorcycle named Sachs Fuego. The rear wheel is 17’’ while the front wheel is 18’’ and both wear new Pirelli tires. The custom leather seat perfectly matches the new lines of the bike. The final touch is the handmade paintwork by Xsamuellucas. 

Mario racconta che tutto è iniziato con una simpatica conversazione tra lui e il suo amico Gil Francisco, su come creare di una moto divertente da godersi sulla spiaggia. Gil non cercava la velocità, ma una moto che incarnasse i suoi gusti: le onde, la musica, le due ruote e il surf. Dopo aver valutato diverse soluzioni Mario Patrício e Gil hanno definito quel che mostriamo oggi. Il telaio sottosella è stato ricostruito con un tubo di acciaio da 25mm per dare l'idea di una moto muscolare. Il serbatoio del carburante usato arriva da una moto portoghese, la Sachs Fuego. La ruota posteriore è da 17'', mentre la ruota anteriore è da 18'' ed entrambe calzano nuovi pneumatici Pirelli. Il nuovo sedile in pelle artigianale si adatta perfettamente alle nuove linee della moto. Il tocco finale è la verniciatura a mano di Xsamuellucas.
