Pezzo 83

A couple of years ago, Alessandro Dell'Unto bought this 1983 CBX550F for Euro 150 by a sexagenarian neighbor lady.

She had left it in the garage seven years before, after using it every day for a decade as her only transport... The next day he stripped the bike down and started to think what to do with it: "What about a scrambler? No. I want a sportbike... I’ll make a café racer inspired by the racing bikes from the 60s, but in a modern way and with the latest generation chassis. I looked for used and cheap parts: a complete front end of a Ducati Monster (200 €), Ducati 916 instrumentation (50 €), a rim and the rear brake of a Suzuki Gamma 250 (50 €), the monoshock of a Yamaha R6: the only adaptable instead of the stock part which is, basically, crap… Then I found the endurance fuel tank from the seventies (a Honda CB750 original part, almost impossible to find) which laid down the lines of the bike. I had to make radical changes: move back the footpegs to make the bike rideable, build the tail from a sheet of steel, and so on. The name 'Pezzo 83' (Part 83) comes from the fact that the build includes parts of nine different motorcycles and two go-karts (as the sprocket cover, which in reality is the bracket of a caliper). Having made this mix of pieces, the name 'Puzzle Garage' was born… which I hope it will soon become a real workshop..." 

Un paio d’anni fa Alessandro Dell'Unto ha acquistato questa CBX550F del 1983 per 150 euro da una sessantenne vicina di casa che l’aveva lasciata in garage sette anni prima, dopo averla usata quotidianamente per un decennio come suo unico mezzo di trasporto. Il giorno seguente l’ha smontata e ha iniziato a pensare cosa farne: ”Mi faccio una scrambler? No. La voglio un po’ più sportiva. Mi faccio una café ispirata alle moto da gara degli anni 60, ma in chiave moderna e con ciclistica di ultima generazione. Ho cercato pezzi usati e a buon mercato: avantreno completissimo del Monster (200€), strumento 916 (50€), cerchio e freno posteriori del Gamma 250 (50€), mono R6: l'unico adattabile al posto del suo, ad aria: una ciofeca. Poi è arrivato il serbatoio endurance anni settanta in vetroresina, (originale per la Honda CB750 e quasi introvabile) che ha dettato le linee della moto alla quale ho dovuto fare trasformazioni radicali: arretrare tantissimo le pedane per poterla rendere guidabile, realizzare in lamiera zincata il codino che segue le linee del serbatoio. Il nome ‘Pezzo 83’ deriva dal fatto che è composta di pezzi arrivati da 9 moto e 2 kart (come il copripignone, che in realtà sarebbe un attacco pinza). Dall'aver fatto questo mix di pezzi è nato il nome ‘Puzzle Garage’ che spero potrà diventare una vera officina...”

Struttura pedane ricostruita con tondini da 0,8cm piegati a mano. Codino monoposto artigianale in lamiera battuta a mano. Sella in 5 strati di cuoio lavorati a mano. Serbatoio endurance in vetroresina per CB750. Semimanubri ricavati dal pieno. Strumentazione replica Smith a fondo rovesciato con meccanica Ducati 916. Cerchio e freno posteriori Suzuki Gamma 250. Corona lavorata artigianalmente. Faro Bates. Pompa radiale Nissin, freno anteriore e blocchetti elettrici CBR1000. Tubi freno in treccia. Specchietti  bar-end Oberon. Aerografie e verniciatura realizzati da Marco della Doctors Brush di Rocca Priora (RM).
