Hammer Kraftrad's R80/7 Conrad

Patrik is from Sweden. Since he had a clear picture of what his bike should have looked like and wanted his beemer built by Michael Hammer, last October he personally made a trip to Germany...

He brought with him a selection of his favorite Swedish beer to properly discuss the project: Conrad, that’s the name given to his R80/7, should have become a gentleman's bike but with an inclination for dirt roads.

Patrik vive in Svezia e, visto che aveva ben chiaro quel che la sua moto avrebbe dovuto essere e lo voleva realizzato da Michael Hammer, lo scorso ottobre si è messo personalmente in viaggio per la Germania e ha portato con sé una selezione di birre svedesi per discutere adeguatamente il progetto. Conrad, che è il nome dato alla sua R80/7, avrebbe dovuto essere una gentleman’s bike, ma con una certa propensione allo sterrato.

During the building process, several things originally planned were changed. The tank, for example, originally had to be a R80/7 one, but in the end it was chosen a R75/6 reservoir. This was eventually painted silk black with shiny aluminum pads. The leather used for the tank strap, the grips and the seat is a particular kind of Swedish skin selected personally by Patrik, very smooth and with a shade which suits very well with the color scheme of the bike. The shiny parts have been considered very important for the personality of the bike. Aside the tank pads they include the custom fenders and the holder of the tank belt. The slightly knobby tires have been chosen to give the bike the dirty look that Patrik was looking for and, probably they suit very well with the Swedish weather and outdoors. When Michael looks at the Conrad, he says he sees a lot of Patrik in it. They'll certainly make a cool team. 

Durante la costruzione, come spesso accade, diverse cose originariamente previste sono state modificate. Il serbatoio, per esempio, in origine doveva essere quello della R80/7, ma alla fine ne è stato scelto uno di una R75/6. E’ stato verniciato in nero satinato con guance in alluminio lucido. Il cuoio utilizzato per la banda sul serbatoio, le manopole e la sella, invece, è un particolare tipo di pelle svedese selezionato personalmente da Patrik, molto morbido e con una tonalità che si adatta molto bene alla combinazione di colori della moto. Le parti lucide sono state considerate importanti per la personalità della moto: a parte le guance serbatoio, includono i parafanghi artigianali e la fibbia della banda sul serbatoio. I pneumatici, leggermente tassellati, sono stati scelti per dare alla moto il tocco off road che Patrik cercava, probabilmente adatto al clima e agli outdoor svedesi. Quando Michael guarda la Conrad, dice di vederci molto di Patrik. Saranno certamente una coppia affiatata.
