Ushuaia: A cafe racer adventure #6

Crossing the Roballos Pass (650 mt. a.s.l. and 180 km of dirt) our friend Salvatore D'Emilio got back to Argentina and reached Las Horquetas after 315 Km. The next 380 km, out of which 190 circa of tracks, were needed to get to El Calafate (where he got his wheel fixed) and the nearby Perito Moreno glacier. From there, after about 260 km, of which 130 of dirt, Sal reached the Torres del Paine Park and, after 110 km, including 65 of tracks, he arrived to Rio Turbio. From Rio Turbio he crossed again the Chilean border towards Punta Arenas for about 250 km (out of which 30 of dirt) and he celebrated the end of an adventurous year in Puerto Natales. 

Attraverso il Paso Roballos (650m slm. e 180 km di ripio) Salvatore D'Emilio è tornato in Argentina raggiungendo Las Horquetas dopo 315 Km. I successivi 380 km, di cui circa 190 di ripio, sono stati necessari a raggiungere El Calafate (dove ha fatto sostituire i raggi rotti delle sue ruote) ed il vicino ghiacciaio del Perito Moreno. Da lì, dopo circa 260 Km, di cui 130 di ripio Salvatore ha raggiunto il Parco Torres del Paine e, dopo altri 110 Km, di cui 65 di piste è arrivato a Rio Turbìo. Da Rio Turbìo è tornato in Cile in Cile in direzione Punta Arenas per circa 250 Km, di cui 30 di ripio, e ha festeggiato la fine di un anno avventuroso a Puerto Natales. 

 

"Magallanes Region: Puerto Natales. The end of the world is getting closer. The Road says that... The Route 40 ends here for me (it continues for another 200 km to Rio Gallegos and then it really ends). I'll never forget it. If you ever visit this country, do not hesitate to spend some time at Natales hotel: pretty, cheap and the owners are very friendly". 

"Stretto di Magellano: Puerto Natales. La fine del mondo si avvicina, lo dice la strada... La Ruta 40 per me termina qui (prosegue per altri 200 km fino a Rio Gallegos e poi finisce veramente) non la dimenticherò mai. Se capitate da queste parti non esitate ad alloggiare al Natales: grazioso, economico ed i proprietari sono molto cordiali".
