Tuono by Totti Motori

If someone would ask me the name of an ugly but terribly effective bike i would say Aprilia Tuono. With a water cooled modern engine and a perimetral alluminium frame, I wouldn't even think to customize it. But this is me and not the master Roberto Totti who, after several years of award winning activity, is still experimenting new styles and solutions. The result, introduced in Verona during the MBE, is outstanding as usual, with a very nice tight fairing, which also hides the anti-aestetic frame. Despite this, the return from the public has been only mild. Difficult to say why. Probably because of the contemporary Buell style, or because of the tail, which looks slightly heavy (designed to hide the subframe and perfectly jointed to the gas tank)... But it must be said that this piece is really one of a kind and miles away from any momentary fashion. Class is not improvisation.

Se qualcuno mi chiedesse il nome di una moto brutta ma terribilmente efficace direi quello dell'Aprilia Tuono. Con un motore moderno raffreddato a liquido e un telaio in alluminio perimetrale sarebbe l'ultima moto che penserei mai di trasformare. Ma questo sono io e non il maestro Roberto Totti che, dopo diversi anni di premiata attività, sta ancora sperimentando nuovi stili e soluzioni. Il risultato, presentato al MBE di Verona, è eccezionale come al solito, con una bella ed attillata carenatura che tra l'altro nasconde l'antiestetico telaio. Il ritorno da parte del pubblico è stato però solo tiepido. Difficile dire perché. Probabilmente a causa dello stile contemporaneo, vagamente Buell, oppure a causa della coda, che sembra un po' ingombrante (studiata per nascondere il telaietto e perfettamente raccordata al serbatoio)... Ma va detto che questo pezzo è davvero unico nel suo genere e lontano anni luce da ogni moda passeggera. La classe non si improvvisa.
