2013 Norton Commando 961 by FMW

This  hasn’t been remained stock for long. The owner decided to bring his iron horse to a higher level transforming it in a superlight metal slung… He chose to change the stock bike into an “original bike”. In order to proper treat this expensive beauty, the choice of the builder had to be carefully considered. And the choice has been Lorenzo "Lollo" Fugaroli in Ancona. Better known as Fugar Metal Worker, Lorenzo is nowadays one of the few builders in Italy, out of the usual elite, who can reliably manage this kind of assignment. Mark Wilsmore, legendary boss of the Ace Café, personally complimented Lorenzo during the café racer contest in Verona, telling him that his way of building bikes should be taught to the Norton people in Donington.

Questa Norton Commando 961 del 2013 non è rimasta di serie per molto tempo. Il proprietario ha deciso di portare il suo cavallo di ferro a più alti livelli trasformandola in un proiettile (Slug) d’alluminio... Ha scelto di cambiare la moto di serie in "moto originale". Al fine trattare adeguatamente questa costosa bellezza, la scelta del costruttore doveva essere attentamente ponderata. E la scelta è stata quella di Lorenzo Fugaroli di Ancona. Meglio conosciuto come Fugar Metal Worker, Lorenzo è oggi uno dei pochi costruttori in Italia, al di fuori dalla cerchia dei soliti noti, che può permettersi di gestire in modo affidabile questo tipo di incarichi. Durante il recente cafe racer contest di Verona, Mark Wilsmore, leggendario boss della Ace Café, si è personalmente complimentato con Lorenzo per il suo lavoro, dicendogli che il suo modo di costruire motociclette dovrebbe essere insegnato alla Norton di Donington.

The classic style of the bike has been thoroughly respected. And this, in my opinion, is the reason why most of the public at the last custom bike expo in Verona understated the fine beauty and quality of this special motorcycle. The entire bodywork has been hand rebuilt by Fugar using aluminium: side panels, tail, fenders, chain cover, instruments brackets. The custom gas tank is by Metal Bike Garage: an already tested choice which proved successful in preceding Lorenzo's works. The braking system has been upgraded by using Accossato Superbike radial master cylinder. The exhaust system is completely new, designed and handmade by FMW. Finally, a couple of clip-ons have been added to complete the tuning of this elegant café racer. 

Lo stile classico della moto è stato rigorosamente rispettato. E questo, a mio parere, è il motivo per cui la maggior parte del pubblico al Bike Expo di Verona ha sottovalutato la raffinata bellezza e qualità di questa speciale. L'intera carrozzeria è stata ricostruita a mano da Fugar utilizzando alluminio: pannelli laterali, codino, parafanghi, carter catena, supporto strumentazione. Il serbatoio custom è di Metal Bike Garage: una scelta ormai collaudata che ha avuto successo nel completare taluni precedenti lavori di Lorenzo. L'impianto frenante è stato potenziato con una pompa radiale Accossato Superbike. L'impianto di scarico è completamente nuovo, progettato e realizzato a mano da FM. Infine, per completare la messa a punto di questa elegante café racer sono è stata montata una coppia di semimanubri Accossato.
