GS1100 Fenix by Luis Alves Motos

Since he was a child, Celso Almeida from Coimbra has always dreamed to own this 1982 GS1100. He saw it the first time in a Summer of the early eighties, when a new neighbour, the former owner of the bike, moved to Portugal from Andorra. Years after, Celso managed to buy the bike. But the old Suzy had been kept outdoor too long without being used, it was completely wrecked, missing several parts and the wiring had become a nightmare. So Celso decided to bring the bike to Luis Alves Motos, in Santo Tirso. When Sérgio Teixeira (aka Luis Sergio) saw the bike, he thought he couldn’t have made it. But he likes to get his hands dirty and made a try. Piece by piece the bike has been completely rebuilt and restored. The original design came from the Yellow Weapon project of the Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi. The tank has been recovered from a 1980 Suzuki GSX 1100, a Motogadget "Motoscope classic" gauge has been added. The brake pipes are now stainless steel braided lines. In order to bring the bike to his original standing, the handlebar has been changed with clip on´s and provided with new levers. For the same reason the Metzeler Lasertec tires are driven by Koni shocks while a pandering LED light blinks from the new tail. The Phoenix is reborn from its ashes and Sérgio wishes it was his bike. Fin da bambino, Celso Almeida di Coimbra aveva sempre sognato di possedere questa GS1100 del 1982. L’aveva vista la prima volta un'estate dei primi anni Ottanta, quando un nuovo vicino di casa, l'ex proprietario della moto, si era trasferito in Portogallo da Andorra. Anni dopo, Celso è finalmente riuscito a comprare la moto. Ma la vecchia Suzy era stata tenuta all'aperto troppo a lungo senza essere utilizzata ed era ormai distrutta, mancavano diverse parti e l’impianto elettrico era ridotto da incubo. Celso ha allora deciso di portare la moto da Luis Alves Motos a Santo Tirso. Quando Sérgio Teixeira (Luis Sergio sul web) ha visto la moto, ha pensato che non ce l’avrebbe potuta fare. Ma gli piace sporcarsi le mani e ci ha provato. Pezzo per pezzo, la moto è stata completamente ricostruita e restaurata. Il design è stato ispirato da un progetto originale di Oberdan Bezzi: la Yellow Weapon. Il serbatoio è stato recuperato da una Suzuki GSX 1100 del 1980, è stato aggiunto uno strumento Motogadget Motoscope Classic e i tubi freno sono ora in treccia di acciaio inox . Per riportare la moto ai sui primitivi fasti, il manubrio alto è stato sostituito da semimanubri e provvisto di nuove leve. Per lo stesso motivo i pneumatici Metzeler Lasertec ora sono guidati da ammortizzatori Koni, mentre un LED molto ruffiano lampeggia dalla nuova coda.
