The Spirit of Munro

Burt Munro (25 March 1899 – 6 January 1978) made history by setting in Bonneville, on 26 August 1967, the under-1000cc land speed record with his Munro Special, a 1920 Indian Scout 1000 cc. As a tribute to his passion for speed, and to the racers and mechanics who throughout years contributed to the reputation of the Indian brand, Indian Motorcycles commissioned to Jeb Scolman of Jeb’s Metal and Speed (Long Beach, CA) the Spirit of Munro, a streamliner designed from scratch and powered by the new Thunder Stroke 111 cubic inches Indian engine (approx 1,800 cc). Burt Munro (25 marzo 1899 - 6 gennaio 1978) ha fatto la storia quando a Bonneville, il 26 agosto 1967, con la sua Munro Special, una Indian Scout 1000 del 1920 realizzò il record mondiale di velocità su motociclo con motore endotermico di meno di 1000 cc.
