That’s the way Lorenzo “Fugar” Fugaroli, FMW from Ancona, challenged the BMW purists, modifying an icon of the Bayerische Motoren Werke production...  The R80GS

Nimrod, figlio di Cam, nipote d Noè,  il Re cacciatore di Shinar, costruttore di Babele, sfidò Dio stesso. Nello stesso modo in cui Lorenzo “Fugar” Fugaroli - FMW ha voluto sfidare i puristi della Casa dell'Elica, modificando una icona della produzione BMW. La R80GS.

Everything isn’t essential to the function of this R80 has been removed. The bodywork has been entirely handmade from raw aluminium. The electrics are hidden where, once upon a time, there was the airbox, removed and substituted by conical filters. Even the lithium’s polymer cells of the battery and the coils have been concealed within the crankcases and you can see the electric cables coming out from the cylinder box, right where they shouldn’t. Everything has been made to clean the lines of this light bike. Everything has been built in-house, including the custom made handlebar with the only exception of the rounded motorhead covers. According to Lollo, this classy scrambler-tracker is cut to the bone but easy to ride, also thanks to the revised suspensions with a new R6 mono at the rear end and the new oversized front floating disc. The exhausts are, needless to say, custom built as well, with a Supertrapp muffler to make the voice of the bike important as it’s meant to be. The speedo is a Daytona instrument. “It had to be a clean and elegant bike to be ridden every day... – Lollo says – Once again, I shocked the purists of the Helix who would never ever touch a vintage R80GS... And, I must tell you, the stock bike makes me sick!” 

Tutto ciò che non è essenziale per la funzionalità di questa R80 è stato rimosso. La carrozzeria è stata realizzata interamente a mano in alluminio grezzo. L'impianto elettrico è nascosto dove, un tempo, c'era l'airbox, rimosso e sostituito da filtri conici. Anche la batteria ai polimeri di litio e le bobine sono stati nascosti all'interno dei carter e si possono vedere i cavi che escono dal monoblocco, proprio dove non dovrebbero essere. Tutto è stato fatto per pulire le linee di questa leggerissima moto. Tutto è stato costruito in casa, compreso il manubrio e con la sola eccezione dei coperchi tondi delle teste. Secondo Lollo, questa elegante scrambler tracker ridotta all'osso è facile da guidare, grazie anche alle sospensioni riviste con un nuovo mono Yamaha R6 al retrotreno e al nuovo disco flottante anteriore di grandi dimensioni. Anche gli scarichi sono, manco a dirlo, artigianali e hanno un terminale Supertrapp per dare allo moto la voce importante che ci si aspetta debba avere. Il tachimetro è Daytona. "Doveva venire pulita elegante e per tutti i giorni... – Dice Lollo – Ancora una volta ho ucciso tutti i puristi dell’elica che mai segherebbero una R80GS... Che a me originale fa anche vomitare…"
