Soon after the post on the Honda S90 concept, one of the Inazuma readers drew my attention on this other interesting project based on an Honda Super Cub.
Effectively, the 'Roadrunner' concept motorcycle saves only the wheels, the engine and few other minor components of the donor bike. It was developed by a Taiwanese engineering student as university degree thesis. Suhan clearly wanted to create something new and unusual inspired by the lines of the classic seaplanes, but he has also been careful to stick with the vintage spirit of the donor bike. "To give the pilot a better view the body of the floatplane is usually elevated higher with a trellis structure. It makes frame much lighter without reducing the strength. The body is composed by three volumes, which create spaces within, making the body much lighter". The entire concept has been designed by Suhan and built in Taiwan by our friends at Motor Shows. The bodywork has been developed and custom built using one off wooden casts, then hammering and riveting the aluminium sheets on them.
